Aidan watched the wolves for quite some time. He even started practicing howls with them.

The polar bears were resting and didn't show much enthusiasm for their visitors.
The boys really liked getting up close to some bald eagles.

Ethan and Aidan thought if they sat on the bench and watched long enough the eagle would decide to fly rather than stay perched. The boys gave up before the eagle took flight.

After the zoo, the boys still wanted "to do" more. We went to the nearby playground and let the boys run, climb, swing, and show off their balancing skills.

Gordon wanted to eat dinner at the Roadrunner, a locally-owned hamburger establishment he used to frequent. The boys just knew dinner couldn't be good if it wasn't from their favorite fast food establishment. However, after eating by Campbell Creek and watching kayakers stop and continue on, the boys were ready to admit their dad knew what he was talking about when he said the Roadrunner was the place to go.

Later while they were still here Gordon sorted and packed boxes of his belongings. As he was going through items he saved from his mission to Fukuoka Japan, 1994-1996, he found some balloons he bought at a Japanese baseball game. The balloons are made with whistles in them and make quite the noise when blown up and released without a knot to keep the air in. Apparently crowds at games release the balloons at dramatic moments. However, Ethan and Aidan were delighted to blow up the big balloons and hear the whistle. Sadly, for the boys, the balloons were over ten years old and didn't last long. Just along enough for the boys to have a good time!

Ann, thank you for putting this on! I have been working on the pictures for Gordon's trip and we've just been so busy! Excuses. . . excuses . . .
