Alaska Gardening

After a long winter, I'm ready for lots of green growth and pretty colors. I took a picture of our "bare" spring front yard and got busy with putting plants in containers, baskets, pots and in the front garden. What I thought would take a week or two took much longer. I took time out to enjoy Angelina, Gordon, Ethan, Aidan and Alan while they were here. By the time I finished planting, there were hanging baskets with strawberry plants, pots with Martha Washington geraniums, planters and big pots of dahlias, and even a few tomato plants a friend gave me - they are on the south side of the house in hopes they would get enough warmth to produce fruit. Now we are having one of the coolest and rainiest summers in many years, but at least I have lots of plants and some flowers and ripe berries for my efforts!
