Kitchen Update, Part I

It all began months ago (May) when a cabinet door was painted a different color to see if it was the desired color. Soon, the hood was taken out and the tile was purposefully being taken off the backsplash and counters. No more tile just falling off. Alan was helping it on its way out.

There's the hood standing on end. You can see that Alan's been busy updating the intercom and moving electrical and telephone boxes so in the end all the boxes will be in just the right place.

Now this is real progress. The appliances are out of the kitchen. And, if you'll notice, the water pipes are capped off. How long will it be until we have running water in the kitchen again? And how long will we rely on the microwave and refrigerator sitting in the dining room? Also gone from the kitchen are most of the cabinets and all their contents. Lots of those items are now in the dining room and in other places around the house. Even the wallpaper has been torn from the walls and is gone. Is it time to prep and paint and walls and ceiling yet?

Yep, the first primer coat is on the walls.

Is it square? Not many angles in this kitchen are!

Masking for primer and color to go on the cabinets.

Finally, here's some color.

And, more touching up on the ceiling. After sheetrock work, texturing, sealing, primer coats, paint and lights. The ceiling will be the only part of the room finished in July.
